About:
This page is full of music links created by Jemgirl (Rachael Prins) as music is one of her passions that she involves in her work and also for the love of creating music in her studio and for having exclusive remixes to DJ with. Jemgirl can also make music for your projects too and has been involved in creating music and doing voice overs for various media such as software, toy store displays, jingles and exclusive tracks for live DJ’s. Rachael is especially interested in producing music for tv media and also cartoons.
Rachael’s ‘Jemgirl’ style of music is synthesizer based, deep bass lines, piano melodies and progressive beats. Her studio consists of Ableton Live as the main studio software, a Macbook Pro, USB audio interfaces, midi keyboards, Rhodes mic, various other instruments and sampling abilities and a fun collection of 80’s keyboards for inspiration. One of Jemgirl’s production essentials is not just about creating good melodies, yet working on layers of melodies that work well together and getting the individual sounds to sound right for that final well produced result.
Music Artist inspiration that Jemgirl has always looked upon since a young age and still to this day are: Giorgio Moroder who composed and produced the music to Flashdance, Electric Dreams & many more amazing synthesizer based songs and was a big fan of the voice vocoder. Anne Bryant who composed and produced the music to cartoons such as Jem and Transformers and all the songs through the Jem series for Jem, the Misfits and the Stingers. And Rob Hubbard who composed a lot of music for the 80’s Commodore 64 computer games that had some of the most amazing melodies for games such as Commando and One Man and His Droid.
Special feature music: The artist name Gimmix is based on electronic music of original compositions by Jemgirl in a certain electronic style including a Gimmix ep.
Compositions: Tracks Jemgirl has composed and produced under the name ‘Jemgirl’ and ‘Gimmix’
Mashups/ Remixes: Songs created by using samples and composing into a new song. Some of these are subtle and others extremely chopped up and some are great to DJ with for beatmixing tracks together.
Jem Style: Music that’s been remixed and mashed up from the Jem cartoon series plus renditions of Jem songs. There is also music Jemgirl has created in the Jem style which are her own compositions.
Collaborations: Music Jemgirl has worked on with other artists.
DJ MIxes: Songs beat mixed together using vinyl and CDs into DJ mixes to dance to. Most of the songs used are by Jemgirl and some are by other artists. Usually in the form of a 30 - 60 minute set.
Ensoniq Sampler Days: This section is some tracks I recorded on an Ensoniq Sampler, the EPS which Rachael got as a teenager and was the luckiest kid on the block to have such an advanced musical device. So these are tracks I recorded in the 90’s and up to about year 2000, up until the new found pleasure of recording music on computer.
All the underlined tracks can be clicked on and downloaded. So listen and enjoy and turn your speakers up!
